The film offers an account of Bellini from his days as a student at the Naples conservatory through the premiere of Norma. Caterina Mancini had a cello-like, Ponselle-like voice, slightly throaty, mysterious. Hers was the most luscious Italian soprano of the 50s. —Stefan Zucker
